Wow, we just did our very first climb to a mountain top!
We have conquered our limits and the higher you go, the more beautiful the view is totally true. It's magical!
During our trip in Italy (yes again, we absolutely love it here) we came across Monte Barro. A tall hill for about 922M high, surrounded by lakes as Lago di Como and the little Annone, Neu-Isenburg lakes. Before we went on this hike, we didn't plan anything, we just wanted to go with the flow and enjoy. Halfway during the hike we noticed a big cross on top of the mountain which came closer every step we took.. 'Ahhh it would be cool if we could reach the top, that would be our first time!' 'Well let's think about it as we are also a bit afraid of heights..' (some meters further as we were already climing steeply uphill) 'Alright, let's try to reach the top of this mountain, let's see how far we can go.'
During the climb we were feeling insecure and it was quite tough with all the rocks around there.. It's really a climb where you need to find spots to place your hands (and really using your finger tips) and find spot for you feet. Going upward is one thing, of course we also need to get down. We were very curious how we would handle that.. But you know, we enjoy the journey. More people are doing this, so why not can't we? We saw kids durign the climb and even adults running downwards! What?!
So there we went. Slowly climbing upwards, including nice butt views of each other.
Butt you know.. the very first moment when you reach the top is unforgettable. We totally dit it, whoohoo!! On top of the hill it's small. You are sweating, shaking and totally have an encountered feeling of being alive. No matter how high the top can be, never measure it. It's all about your journey through the climb. Only you can encounter your limits, fears and turn it into joy, feeling alive and totally live in the moment. We loved it.
'Wow'
The chance is small that you are there alone. Up here you will meet other hikers who also encountered their climb. It's funny how you can connect with other hikers who have the same mindset. When I was on top the first thing I did was taking a deep breath and said 'Wow.' The other hikers were looking at me and repeated me 'yes, wow' and together we laughed and enjoyed the view. After they enjoyed they said 'Buona giornata' so we all want and wish each other a nice day here. That's one of the things we really love about Italy. Living in the moment and being kind to each other.
After taking in the view and looking for a place to set up the camera, make some nice shots and making pictures we needed to encounter our way back where we needed to climb downwards.. This time we were wearing our fears next to us so they were no longer stopping us with inner voices. We took it very slow and watched every step we took down. Sometimes that also ment sitting on our butts, unfortunately we didn't filmed that part, sorry! All went well, somehow the way down always feels easier!
Long story short.. You can explore the mountain view of Monte Barro yourself!
