The Netherlands, 3 April 2026
Everytime when we are 'on the other side' of the Netherlands we have the feeling of slowing down. There is so much green on the East side and much more population in the North side, were we are originally from. If you are looking for Nature's gems, you know where to find us!
This time, at the Veluwe.
The Veluwe is a big forested area in the Dutch province of Gelderland. We have visited two places and made a lovely video about it. First we visited the 'Asselsche Heide' which is a heathland with lovely colors during summer. Unfortunately we are there end of February during a lovely sunny day, where spring is about to start so the heathland is not in its full bloom, yet very beautiful. Almost like time are standing still. Speaking about it.. if you look closely enough you might see that the trees over here are dancing! As the second place we visited is called 'The Speulders and Sprielders Forest' which is located in Ermelo. It's one of the most enchanting forests in the Netherlands. Its old trees twist and lean in unique shapes, giving the forest its nickname. Walking here feels almost timeless. It's really a place where silence, nature and imagination meet.
Deep down into this forest there is a big hole called the 'Solse Gat.' Legends says that a mighty monastery once stood there. A place where the monks did not behave properly.. If you are lucky you can spot (or hear) the ghostly monks by night or like us, during daylight in a wooden shape (don't worry, they are friendly!)
Walk this mysterious path together with us (we will not hold your hand) and watch the beauty of Speuldersbos, the forest of the dancing trees.
Enjoy and see you outside!
